Our Beliefs

Of The Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men who were supernaturally inspired of God; that it has been perfectly preserved by the same God Who gave it; that it has truth without any admixture of error for its matter; and, therefore, is, and shall forever remain to be, the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to mankind. Therefore, we hold that the Word of God is the only source of faith and that it is the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried. (cf. Matthew 5:18; 24:35; 1 Corinthians 13:8-10; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalms 12:6-7)

By The Holy Bible, we mean the collection of sixty-six books, from Genesis to Revelation. By Inspiration, we mean that the books of the Bible were written by holy men of old, as they were moved by the Holy Spirit, in such a definite way that their writings were in fact, the very words of God. Therefore, their writings were free from all error. By Preservation, we mean that the same God, who gave us His Word in such a supernatural manner, has actively worked to preserve His Word for all generations; seeing to it that not “one jot or one tittle” should ever fail (cf. Matthew 5:18). We further believe that the Masoretic Hebrew text and Textus Receptus manuscripts, from which were translated the King James Bible’s Old and New Testament respectively, is the Word of God; and we, therefore, reject all versions and translations from any other manuscripts.

Of The True God

We believe that there is only one living and true God, the Creator and Supreme Ruler of Heaven and Earth; He is a Spirit which is inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence, and love. We also hold that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons – i.e., God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost – equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct, but harmonious, offices in the great work of mankind’s redemption. (cf. Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 9:6; 43:10; Acts 5:3-4; 1 Timothy 1:17)

Of Satan

We believe that Satan was once holy and enjoyed heavenly honors; but, through pride and ambitions to usurp the throne of the Almighty, he fell from his exalted position and drew after him a host of angels. We believed that he is now the malignant prince of the power of the air and the unholy god of this world. We also hold him to be man’s great tempter, the enemy of God and the Lord Jesus Christ, the accuser of the saints, the author of all the powers of darkness, destined, however, to final defeat at the hands of God’s Son, and the judgment of an eternal justice in hell – a place prepared for him, his angels, and all those who follow him in rebellion against God. (cf. Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:14-17; Revelation 20:10)

Of Creation

We believe in the Genesis account of Creation, and that it is to be accepted literally, not allegorically nor figuratively; we believe that man was created directly in God’s image and after His likeness, and that man’s creation was not a matter of evolution or an evolutionary changing of species over millions of years. Also, we hold that all animal and plant life were made directly by God and that His established law was that all things should bring forth “after their kind”. (cf. Genesis 1-2; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17)

Of Man

We believe that man was created in innocence under the law of his Maker; but, by voluntary transgression, fell from that sinless state. As a result, all mankind are now sinners – not by constraint, but by their own choice. Therefore, man is under a just condemnation from God, and will one day stand before God without any defense or excuse. (cf. Genesis 3:1-6; Romans 3:10-18, 23; 5:12)

Of Salvation

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice. Therefore, we also believe that all those who will by faith receive Him as their personal Savior, are justified on the grounds of His blood shed on Calvary and His resurrection from the dead. We also hold that this salvation is a literal spiritual birth, brought forth by the working of the Holy Spirit, and that we are thereby made to become the children of God. (cf. Romans 3:20-22; 4:1-8; Galatians 5:4; Ephesians 2:8-9)

Of The Church

We believe in the visible local church, which is made up of a company of believers in Jesus Christ who have been Scripturally baptized upon a credible confession of faith, and who are joined together in fellowship for the purpose of worshipping God and doing His will. Furthermore, we believe that to each local church God has committed, for perpetual observance, two ordinances: (1) Baptism of believers by immersion and (2) the Lord’s Supper. We also believe that God has laid upon each local church the task of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature in every nation, and the edification of those individual members which come into their fellowship. (cf. Matthew 16:18; 18:17-18; 28:18-20)

Of Last Things

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead, the saved to eternal life and blessedness in Heaven, and the unsaved to eternal, conscious suffering and torment in the flames of Hell. (cf. John 5:29; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:11-15)

Of Assurance

We believe in the eternal security of the believer. (cf. John 3:14-17, 36; 5:24; 10:27-29)

Of Civil Government

We believe that civil government is of divine appointment, for the interests and good order of human society; that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed, except only in those things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only Lord of the conscience, and the coming Prince of the kings of the earth. (cf. Romans 13:7; Philippians 2:10-11; 1 Peter 2:13-14)
